Belly River
Belly River is a run-of-river hydroelectric facility with installed capacity of three MW, located on the Waterton St. Mary Headworks Irrigation Canal System, east of the Waterton Reservoir, approximately 75 kilometres southwest of Lethbridge, Alberta. This wholly-owned facility utilizes a double Alstom Francis turbine and an Alstom generator. This facility began commercial operations in March 1991. Generation from this facility will be subject to the terms of a TransAlta PPA that terminates in 2033. Management believes that the estimated annual gross generation from the facility will be approximately 10 GWh.
